Expected the hotel to be a bit 'faded glory' and provincial hotel-ish, but it was far from that. It was spotlessly clean throughout, fairly recently redecorated, and with great facilities/location. Staff were utterly charming and helpful, dinner in the restaurant delicious, cocktails (made to order) bang on, and the setting was glorious: magnificent views from all the public rooms looking over the pier and Windermere. Our Classic Double bedroom didn't have much of a view (wasn't promised to have), but was extremely comfortable with great facilities and thoughtful extras eg Tassimo coffee machine, night light in the bathroom, fan etc. Parking is free for residents (subject to registering your car on arrival - don't forget!); given the difficulty and cost of parking in the Lake District this is an added bonus.

I booked the hotel for my sister's 60th Birthday. She had always wanted to stay there as a child and we finally got to stay there. I asked for a bottle of prosecco to be put in the room for our arrival and this was arranged. From checking in by Charlie to checking out, the service was first class. Wonderful breakfast and service by Driss. Then we were given a tour of the hotel by John who told us about the history. He was so passionate about the Belsfield. The view from our room of the Lake was breathtaking and we didn't want to leave. Beautiful gardens and a joy to have a drink on the lawn looking out over Windermere. The Belsfield and staff created special memories for my sister and I and fulfilled childhood dreams.

The hotel is located at a nice view in front of the lake. Access to the pier and surrounding services are only a few steps. Likewise, town center is a few steps from the other side. Breakfast is included and is fine. Room service may require improvements, phone line was broken and was not attended during our stay. Room price is somehow high compared to hotel ranking. It looks like we have paid for the location.

The position of this hotel is beautiful, and I was very lucky and grateful to have been upgraded to a 'lake view' room when I arrived, which was a lovely surprise! The view was spectacular. Good size room, very comfortable bed and large bathroom. All the staff I interacted with were very polite, friendly and professional.

The location and view were superb. We enjoyed the view of Lake Windermere from the lounge inside and the garden outside. The hotel ambience was really good. The lounge, dinning and bar areas were well maintained and the garden was beautifully kept.
